Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has written to the First Minister and the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport urging them to come Skye and give a face-to-face commitment to local people to restore 24/7 urgent care at Portree Hospital.
Mr Halcro Johnston said:
"Local people have been angry for some time over the failure to restore 24/7 urgent care at Portree Hospital. Now many are fearful over future incidents.
“The First Minister has been left in little doubt over the seriousness of the incidents over the weekend, but we need more than words from John Swinney. We need to see action from Scottish Ministers and promised to restore urgent care actually delivered on.
"And so I have written to the First Minister and the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport to ask for them to commit to the restoration of the 24/7 urgent care at Portree Hospital without delay. And that they do so in Skye and face-to-face with local campaigners and concerned residents”.
