Commenting as the Scottish Air Ambulance Service reaches 90 years of age, Highlands and Islands MSP and Convenor of the Scottish Parliament's Cross Party Group on Islands, Jamie Halcro Johnston MSP said:
“For almost a century, the Air Ambulance has provided hope for people in times of dire need, allowing critical medical care and transport to be delivered for in emergency situations.
“This milestone is an opportunity to recognize this vital service and thank the dedication and professionalism of the pilots, doctors, paramedics, and support staff who work tirelessly day and day out as they make our region safe.
“Beyond the immediate lifesaving efforts, the Air Ambulance has played a pivotal role in enhancing healthcare accessibility in remote areas, especially around my Highlands and Islands region. By bridging the distance between patients and specialist medical facilities, it has ensured that every individual, regardless of their location, has access to the best possible care in times of emergency.
“For 90 years now, the Air Ambulance service has made a significant difference in improving health outcomes and in saving lives across the Highlands and Islands.”
