Commenting on CalMac’s announcement on further disruption to Uig-Tarbert-Lochmaddy services, Highlands and Islands MSP and Convener of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross-Party Group on Islands, Jamie Halcro Johnston, said:
“Barely a day goes by without CalMac having to announce yet more delays or cancellations on Scotland’s beleaguered ferries network.
“It appears we won't know until Wednesday what service CalMac will be able to offer on this route from this Sunday, nor when the MV Clansman is expected to be back in service.
"What we do know is that island residents and businesses are entitled to a reliable and functioning service, but all they seem to be being offered is increasing disruption and more uncertainty.
“And we do know of the serious impact this worsening ferries crisis is having on local communities and that, if there aren’t dramatic improvements made soon, this impact will only grow as we move into the busy summer period."
