Speaking on the temporary closure of the Muir of Ord Post Office Branch, Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston said:
"It is worrying to see yet another high street service at risk of being permanently lost, particularly one as important to the community as the local Post Office.
"This closure, albeit one which is temporary for now, is part of a wider trend of important local facilities vanishing from our high streets, reducing their ability to cater to the needs of local residents and businesses.
“The last few years have seen too many local communities in the Highlands lose their banks, their post offices and other important local amenities. If we want successful and sustainable towns and villages, this is a trend which needs to be reversed”.
