Two Highland projects have seen their successful applications for lottery funding praised in Holyrood.
Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has congratulated Groam House Museum and Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust’s Stained Glass Window Project at Errogie Church on their awards from the National Heritage Lottery Fund, and lodged motions in the Scottish Parliament recognising their success.
The Scottish Conservative MSP said the awards recognised the key role of such funding in fostering community pride, promoting cultural understanding and safeguarding our shared history.
Mr Halcro Johnston said:
"I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to Groam House Museum and Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust on their efforts in securing this funding.
"These projects embody the spirit of community engagement and the preservation of our rich heritage, and I commend the recipients for their dedication to preserving the stories and traditions that define many of our communities in the Highlands.
"I am immensely proud to see the powerful work being done right across the Highlands and Islands, and these awards by The National Lottery Heritage Fund underline its commitment to celebrating and safeguarding our heritage.

That the Parliament welcomes The National Lottery Heritage Fund’s £10,000 grant for the Stained Glass Window Project at Errogie Church, which is being undertaken by the Stratherrick and Foyers Community Trust Ltd; notes the significant involvement of young people from the local community in this creative endeavour, which draws inspiration from the historic significance of the building and the local area; wishes the project every success, and recognises what it sees as the pivotal role of The National Lottery Heritage Fund in supporting projects that contribute to the conservation of the nation's heritage assets.

That the Parliament welcomes The National Lottery Heritage Fund’s grant of £29,214 to Rosemarkie’s Groam House Museum for its project, Bringing our collections home; understands that this project aims to create a new, accessible store and to provide a comprehensive programme of engagement activities at the museum; considers that the project is a fantastic opportunity for local people in the Black Isle, and tourists visiting the Highlands, to connect with ancient Celtic and Pictish art, and wishes Groam House Museum every success for the future.

This project aims to create a new accessible store and provide a programme of engagement activities at the museum.

Young people in the community will be involved in this project to construct a stained-glass window which draws inspiration from the historic significance of the building and the local area.
