Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has welcomed the approval of the first-ever Scottish wildcat release. This landmark decision is a significant step forward in protecting Scotland's iconic and endangered wildlife.
Mr Halcro Johnston said: "The Scottish wildcat is one of Scotland's most iconic, if elusive, creatures.
“It is so important that we do all we can to protect this magnificent animal, and I was delighted to visit the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s (RZSS) Highland Wildlife Park only last year to learn first-hand about the work being done.
“We must protect our wonderful natural heritage for future generations, and this is an essential step in ensuring the long-term survival of Scottish wildcats”.
