[Scottish Parliament, 04.09.2024] Commenting on the Scottish Government’s latest Programme for Government, Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston said:
“Yet again, there is no mention of the much-delayed, repeatedly-promised and desperately-needed replacement for the Belford Hospital in Fort William.
“Despite endless assurances - and despite clear community support for a new facility, as evidenced by the well-attended and cross-party public demonstration I spoke at in Fort William earlier this year – SNP ministers have once again failed to deliver on what they said they would.
“Lochaber deserves better than a government in Edinburgh that, time and time again, simply ignores the needs of the local community, local patients and those dedicated and hard-working staff who are left having to work in ageing and unsuitable facilities”.
